Vibe coding and visual work

So today I got into designing another theme for my other blog, which is a Ghost backed website; since I wanted to write more, I thought what better way to spend my weekend evening. Quite soon I realised, I am bad at design, which is not a new realisation for me. But classic Yak shaving me; apparent low-hanging fruit, "easy win". I already have a perfectly reasonable theme currently, but the itch to create one is real.

I like to think that I am visually somewhat inclined. But the knobs and levers that I turn with LLMs around Sass and HTML is rather weird. I suppose I can ask the LLM to use font-sizes that respect typographic rhythm; but the last of bit pixel pushing is missing. Depending on the font, one might need to adjust the font sizes, but the LLM don't really have any idea of visual appeal, at least on in the sense I find a blog page soothing. It's the same with colors. I am not entirely sure how to go from here. I am not able to feel connected to the design, nor the process with LLMs, but I absolutely enjoy creating goodtypography for whatever I want to write. Maybe it's time to hand code some stuff, like I did last time.
