Discreet half H-bridge experiment
So today a friend of mine at work was trying to get a half H-bridge driver working with two primary MOSFETs, and one driver to pull-down gate of one the MOSFETs. This was a particularly fun refresher to my MOSFET design skills. I forgot that for P-channel enhancement MOSFETs, the Gate-Source voltage has to be "negative" for the transistor to turn on. And also not sure what we did wrong, but the P-channel MOSFET for the half H-bridge got way too hot, almost burned my fingers.
But I couldn't let it go, so I came home and reimplemented the setup on another breadboard. I had borrowed some of those discreet transistors from my friend. And after fumbling with drain and sources, managed to make the half H-bridge work wihtout burning my fingers.
Small win for the day!
